San Antonio class

The San Antonio class Landing Platform Dock (LPD) are designed for the United Statez Navy to carry marines, landing craft vehicles and aircraft. The USS San Antonio (LPD 17) is the first ship of ten ships. In December 2007 Northrop Grumman got a contract of the US Navy fot the delivery of a 9th ship called USS Somerset (LPD 25). The first five ships are in service with the US Navy while the next three have already been launched and the other two are under construction.
